View across a pond towards Junction Hill, from the approach hike to Strawberry Hills. We followed an old logging road listed in Daffern's book as "highwood beaver ponds" since we didn't want to cross the Highwood River for the usual start.
This was not my initial plan. However, after staring into the Highwood River for some time we decided that we didn't want to do Zehyr Hills that badly and went to my backup plan. It was a nice hike in quite shallow snow. Sometimes only as deep as the recent dusting from the day before! Unlike on Bluerock Knob, the day before in the Sheep, where the snow was actually deeper.
The shallow snow and amazing views of the divide certainly were the highlights of this trip.
