View from the first open area on ascent after crossing along Barrier Lake.
After a half day of work I took off for a quick solo hike before the sun went down. I needed to gain ~200 more meters of elevation to beat my personal best yearly total elevation gain (previous record 2013). I decided on this hike as it is close to Calgary, and the last time I took the trail I didn't go up to the very top for whatever reason.
It was super windy crossing around Barrier Lake and I got chilled from that, but eventually warmed up on the easy trail. I made it and beat my record. View was ok, didn't stay long before descending. Just had a few sips of scotch to celebrate the new year.
