Typical photo of Victoria Peak from the road. Can't help it, it looks rather good from this angle.

Taking a risk on the amount of wind, Matt and I went down south to check out the Castle Region. We were pleasantly surprised by a mostly only lightly breezy day. Making this a warm, rather snowless ascent. We did not take the scramble route, but the hiking one farther back the valley. I had a moment of pure joy running down the scree on the way back down. Never thought I'd be scree skiing in December!
