View from where you turn off the Marmot Basin Trail onto a side trail that takes you down to the first creek crossing. From there you have to follow faint trails interspersed with bushwacking till you get down to the second creek crossing. I was lucky I found a faint trail down to the second creek as its a pretty steep descent.

With the weather I wanted to do a really non-technical hiking peak. The southeast ridge of Mount Collembola fit my needs. Besides some bushwacking between two creek crossings its a straight forward ascent. There are a few small rockbands on the ridge, but they can be avoided or are easy to ascend. The peak made a good objective on this day. Too bad I didn't start a bit later though, as the summit cleared up by the time I got back to my car.
